On May 23 an event was held to launch PERU LCA . The event was very successful with more that 70 representatives from several ministries, private sector and academia.

PERU LCA is the national life cycle assessment data base of Peru. This tool has been developed with the support of the UN Environment through the Consumer Information programme and the Life Cycle Initiative and funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMU) of Germany and the European Union.

With this database, Peru demonstrates their regional leadership on LCA and provides open data in key strategic sector such us energy or waste. This is a joint-effort of the Ministry of Environment and the Peruvian LCA Network. This database will help policy makers, private sector and academia to integrate LCA methodologies and take into consideration a life cycle approach.

Furthermore, PERU LCA includes a calculator that uses the national economic input output matrix to calculate the carbon footprint and water consumption in key economic sectors of Peru
