GLAM project, and Pellston Workshop® on Life Cycle Impact Indicators, Part 2

As a legacy of the Initiative’s phase 3, the project “Global Guidance for Life Cycle Impact Assessment Indicators and Methods” (GLAM) has been approved by the Steering Committee, as a project in the programme area on knowledge. This project aims to create a library of recommended impact assessment factors linked through a global nomenclature system, to improve the consistency and harmonization of LCA studies.

Continuing from the successful work on the first batch of impact indicators (climate change, water use, particulate matter, land use impacts on biodiversity), GLAM is currently working on the consensus building related to: acidification & eutrophication; eco-toxicity; human toxicity; mineral primary resources; ecosystem services (focus on soil quality); and crosscutting issues.

GLAM is progressing fast in the organisation of a one-week Pellston Workshop® to be held in Valencia, Spain on 24-29 June 2018. Participation in this workshop is by invitation only, and most expert participants have already confirmed and arranged their travel. The aim of the workshop is to provide the scientific grounds for harmonized environmental indicators and characterization factors in the above mentioned areas, as well as overall LCIA framework and crosscutting issues.

We will provide timely updates regarding the workshop preparations and its final outcomes via the LC Net newsletter and our website.
