Keynote Presentation and Stakeholder Consultation • Sydney, Australia • 16 July 2013

Ms Jodie Bricout, Coordinator [avniR] LCA Platform and CAP’EM Project Manager, delivered a keynote presentation on “Looking back on 10 years of achievements of the UNEP/SETAC Life Cycle Initiative and current projects to mainstream Life Cycle Thinking”. The presentation was given at the 8th Life Cycle Conference with the theme of “Pathways to Greening Global Markets” hosted by the Australian Life Cycle Assessment Society.

In addition, Brad Ridoutt (CSIRO) led a stakeholder consultation session on the Flagship project “Environmental Life Cycle Impact Assessment Indicators”. This is one of several stakeholder consultations occurring globally, whereby the tentative list of priority impact categories selected during the Glasgow scoping workshop (May, 2013) is being validated with a larger stakeholder audience. The Australian workshop was attended by more than 40 participants, indicating strong interest in the Life Cycle Initiative’s work. Overall, the participants supported the proposed future direction of the Flagship project, and especially the inclusion of work on water and land use impact assessment which are both considered to have high environmental and end user relevance.
