Project Title: Global Life Cycle Assessment Data Access network (GLAD)
Co-Implementing Partners: UNEP, USDA, EC-JRC, IBICT, OpenLCA, …
Co-Funding Partners: The Life Cycle Initiative funding partners, contributions of many participating governments, most notably: Brazil, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, USA and the European Commission.
GLAD aims to achieve better data accessibility and interoperability. The network is comprised of independently operated LCA databases (nodes) from around the world and provides users an interface to find and access life cycle inventory datasets from different providers.
GLAD delivers two main services:
- Find datasets – through a search component, including globally agreed metadata descriptors. There are currently over 80, 000 datasets provided on GLAD.
- Use datasets – by allowing their conversion and download into the user’s software, in the desired format.
GLAD was launched June 2020 with a 2-hour event featuring live demos, interactive discussions and panels. Over 330 attendees and 25 speakers participated and represented a wide variety of interests; governments, consulting companies, data providers, LCA experts and universities enjoyed the launch live.
